DO THE RIGHT THING.

But not just because it's a bunch of famous people telling you to do it. Do it because you actually know deep down inside that TRUMP IS NOT QUALIFIED TO LEAD THIS NATION.

You know it. I know it.

PJ Harvey at Terminal 5

I snuck out of Charlotte a couple of days ago and flew up to NYC to see PJ Harvey perform at Terminal 5, which I knew was destined to become an historic rock event. Indeed, it provided the electric juices & heart pulse throbs & beats I needed to get my head back on straight for all my world-conquering endeavors.

(I did not take these videos, but I thank the people who did.)

Finally after moving out of NYC over two and a half months ago, I feel like Kurt again. I needed this live music magic to inspire me and elevate me, as it always does.

PJ Harvey is the queen. She's just absolutely brilliant.

Alright, Charlotte, I am back... and I am ready to take you over & make you mine.

Bye bye New York City... Hello Charlotte!

After 15 years living life in New York City, I've decided it's time for a change.  We picked up our lives, our possessions, our cats, our insanity, and we moved down south to Charlotte, North Carolina.

Loading up the truck in Brooklyn, Tuesday afternoon:

Unloading the truck in Charlotte, Wednesday morning:

Time for the next chapter...

SAVAGES

Ermira and I went to see Savages play last night at Warsaw in Brooklyn. I can't remember the last time I saw a band play that was so incredibly perfect and seamless live. Amazing!! So amazing! Savages is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Any true fan of punk rock needs to pay attention to this band.  Correction: Any true fan of music needs to pay attention to this band.

p.s. I totally have a major crush now on Jehnny Beth...

Strung Out In Heaven

By far the most beautiful and emotionally intense Bowie tribute album since his passing:

https://amandapalmer.bandcamp.com/album/strung-out-in-heaven-a-bowie-string-quartet-tribute

Amanda Palmer, on making the tribute album:
"We’re really, really, really proud of what we made, even though we cranked it out in a short time.
Music is the binding agent of our mundane lives. It cements the moments in which we wash the dishes, type the resumes, go to the funerals, have the babies. The stronger the agent, the tougher the memory, and Bowie was NASA-grade epoxy to a sprawling span of freaked-out kids over three generations. He bonded us to our weird selves. We can be us. He said. Just for one day.
It didn’t hit me until a week later, in the studio, why this was such a fitting project. We were immersing ourselves in Bowieland, living in the songs, super-glueing up some fresh wounds. Not just “knowing” the songs, but feeling the physical chords under our sad fingers, excavating the deeper architecture of the songwriting (especially with a tune as bizarre as “Blackstar” (which we realized was constructed like a sonic Russian nesting doll).
Bowie worked on music up to the end to give us a parting gift. So this is how we, as musicians, mourn: keeping Bowie constantly in our ears and brains.
The man, the artist, exits. But the music, the glue; it stays. It never stops binding us together."

Doing the doing during the no doing but doing time.

It was good to be hibernated for the past two days. Big storms like this should come more often (preferably during the work week). I spent this time filing my taxes. I also completely tore down my pathetic website and lit it up and watched it burn... it was really old, and immature, and unprofessional, and I started rebuilding it from scratch, replacing it completely and pathetically and wholesomely with a brand fucking new pathetic, immature website.  It is currently a work in progress. But there some sound bits this time around, so that's kind of cool. Check back soon for significant developments between now and the Spring. I promise. I'll make it all lead somewhere worthwhile.  I HAVE A PLAN.

This was a good weekend. Pluto & Lulu kept me company as Jonas reminded us all just how small and human we actually are (thank you, Jonas).

Saturday, January 23, 2016

Well... Jonas has arrived.

As predicted. Jonas is a real jerk.

I'm staying put today, but, unfortunately, here's Will heading off to work. Fashion designers work harder than architects do. And that's not a good thing.
Tanya: if anything bad happens to him, I AM COMING AFTER YOU.

Here's what my backyard looks like...

And... here's Pluto and Lulu trying to figure it all out.

So, my day will consist mostly of reading 'Lolita' (half way through, a really awesome book), filing my taxes, and listening to the new Savages album, 'Adore Life' (a very good album, by the way!).
